Staircase Banister Makeover

DIY Banister UpgradeWhen we moved into our house everything was very builder grade. I knew I wanted to change it from day one. The major thing I wasn’t crazy about was the staircase banister. It was that orange wood color that I am not a huge fan off. I knew I could give it a custom look pretty easily.

Inspiration at the Coast

Inspiration at the Coast

I’m lucky enough to have an awesome husband who talked me into getting a small summer rental at the coast, in Southport, NC. Being landlocked for most of the year having grown up a Long Island girl is tough for me. We spend the week as landlubbers and every weekend head out to our spot. I’ve slowly been exploring the shops in town and finding lots of inspiration. My skin is brown, my Mom game is on point and I’m feeling pretty awesome. My creativity always seems to soar during these times in life. I’ve been so inspired by the amazing artists in town, the little consignment and resale shops and all of the people wanting to share their stories. I hope to post about this little town a lot over the coming weeks. For today, I want to share some images that have inspired some ideas for projects.

Black, White & Green Patio

Patio Inspiration

Recently my friend mentioned she would love some help putting together her patio. Her house is quickly becoming the go to hangout for us so I emphatically agreed. Reclaimed Wood Garden Sign

DIY reclaimed wood vegetable garden sign

I am making some progress on my first vegetable garden. I planned the space, picked the seeds (with a little help from my two tiny helpers), planted, and got dirty…really dirty. I hadn’t planned on making a sign for the garden but this phrase kept repeating in my head as I planted each little seed, “Now grow, damn it!”. It perfectly sums up all of the frustration and impatience I feel about gardening.

Outdoor Hammock Retreat

Backyard Retreat

Spring is in the air, and now is the time to start thinking about the outdoor decor. I love my backyard, but other than one little light I noticed it seemed a bit dark. I started thinking about how I could remedy this, and adding some lights over my favorite spot seemed perfect. Every time I have a rough day I go out to the hammock and look up. It is the most calming view ever, and only steps away from my home. The lights just add that little extra I was looking for, and it was so easy!

Reclaimed Wood Pot Rack Wall

DIY Reclaimed Wood Pot Rack Wall

I love to cook, so when we moved into our new house the first room I wanted to tackle was the kitchen. One of my first projects was adding a pot rack wall. I wanted all my pots and pans to be easily accessible, and look great too.
