Navy Blue Powder Room

Dark blue powder room

Navy blue walls can be intimidating to some when you are considering a small room because dark colors can make a small room feel even smaller. A simple solution is adding a gallery wall with art surrounded by large white mattes. Using various sized frames and art can help move the eye around by giving more visual interest.

The color palette for this powder room is simple dark blue, white, and pops of pink that come out in the art and accessories. I wanted to use a mixture of personal photos and imagery focused on a coastal theme. I stayed away from being too literal with the coastal imagery, and focused more on images that invoke that beach feel. Things like popsicles, flamingos, watercolor seashells, and sunglasses allowed me to stay within the beach theme and add pops of pink. The powder room is small but packs a big design punch.

I switched out the builder grade large mirror with a white ornate framed mirror. The lighting fixture was originally brass. An easy fix was to spray paint it white and switch out the glass shades. The only thing I didn’t change was the vanity. I am still deciding on what color to paint. Any suggestions?

Dark blue walls can make a room feel smaller, but adding large white frames and mattes can help open the room up.

  1. I adore the pink accents! My vote is to find a fantastic rug, fitting with your fun and amazing art, and pull a color from it.

  2. a teal shade from one of the art pieces for the vanity? (I’m obsessed with teals so that would be my choice!)
